Getting started
Make sure WarnFire can reach you
Save WarnFire as a contact and safe sender so calls, texts, and email pages are not screened.
Every responder should complete this check before joining an on-call rotation. Phones and mail systems may silence an unfamiliar caller, label a text as spam, or send a paging email to junk.
Before you begin
An administrator must first add the responder and save their delivery details . To use the contact-card action, the responder also needs an authorized WarnFire build installed and signed in . Have access to the responder’s email inbox and every iPhone or iPad expected to receive pages.
Find WarnFire’s current contact details
WarnFire lists its paging phone numbers and email address in two places:
- In the web console, open On-call → People and find Know WarnFire’s numbers.
- In the mobile app, open Settings → Stay reachable.
Use the values displayed in your workspace rather than copying numbers from a message or an old document.
Save WarnFire on iPhone or iPad
- In the WarnFire app, open Settings.
- Select Stay reachable.
- Tap Add WarnFire to contacts.
- Review the system contact card and save it.
If WarnFire finds an existing contact, the button changes to Update contact or Re-save contact. Use it whenever the paging numbers change.
WarnFire presents the standard iOS contact sheet; it does not request unrestricted access to your address book.
Saving the contact helps calls and texts pass settings and services that screen unknown numbers. Confirm that WarnFire is also allowed through any focus mode, call-screening service, or mobile-carrier spam filter used on the device.
Mark paging email as safe
Use the paging address shown under Know WarnFire’s numbers:
- Outlook or Microsoft 365: open a WarnFire message, then choose Junk → Never Block Sender, or add the address to Safe Senders.
- Gmail or Google Workspace: move any WarnFire message out of Spam and create a filter that keeps mail from that address in the inbox.
- Other providers: add the address to the provider’s allowlist or safe-sender list.
Email is a separate delivery channel. Saving the phone contact does not change mail filtering.
Verify it worked
Reachability is per person and per device. Add these checks to responder onboarding:
- Confirm that the WarnFire contact contains the current paging numbers shown by the workspace.
- Confirm that WarnFire’s paging email address is allowed by the responder’s mail provider.
- Ask an administrator to use Send test text after the responder’s phone number is saved.
- Confirm that the text reaches the phone associated with that number. The test consumes SMS allowance or prepaid credits according to destination and segment count.
- Send a test incident through a non-production service and confirm that its push notification appears on each signed-in device.
- If the responder’s escalation step uses email or voice, include those channels in the controlled incident test and confirm the email arrives and the call reaches the saved number. SMS and voice consume their respective allowances or prepaid credits.
If a test does not arrive, review Settings → Diagnostics in the mobile app and find the attempt in Delivery Activity before relying on that channel.
Next step
Add the responder to an on-call schedule only after the required delivery tests succeed.
